Discipleship

You are commissioned.

"Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit."

Matthew 28:19

Devotional

Discipleship is not a program — it is a lifestyle. Jesus didn't disciple the twelve in a classroom; He took them on the road. He ate with them, argued with them, corrected them, and commissioned them. The Great Commission was never meant to be delegated to professionals. Every believer is a discipler. Someone in your life is watching how you respond to difficulty, to God, to temptation. You are already discipling someone — the question is whether you're doing it intentionally.

Culture Meets Scripture

In the News

Mentorship Is Having a Moment — and the Church Has Been Doing It for 2,000 Years

LinkedIn, TED Talks, and entire industries have been built around the hunger for mentorship. Young professionals are desperately seeking older, wiser guides to help them navigate career, relationships, and identity. The church has had a name for this for two millennia: discipleship. The irony is that many churches have reduced discipleship to a Sunday school class while the culture is paying thousands of dollars for what the New Testament calls a lifestyle of intentional investment.

Discussion Question

"What does the mentorship hunger of this generation reveal about the irreplaceable role of one-on-one discipleship — and why has the church largely outsourced it?"

Bible Study Application

Read Acts 2:42-47 — the blueprint for the early church's discipleship culture. Identify the four practices: teaching, fellowship, breaking of bread, and prayer. What would your life look like if these four practices structured your week? What would your community look like?
